Surface Compatibility

Steel Surfaces

Attach the mount directly to a clean, flat, compatible steel surface. Confirm that both magnets make full contact and that the surface can safely support the complete setup.

Non-Magnetic Surfaces

For aluminum, fiberglass, plastic, glass, wood, or composite surfaces, add compatible adhesive-backed steel base plates to create magnetic attachment points.

Using the Mount on a Steel Surface

1. Confirm that the intended surface is magnetic, clean, flat, and structurally suitable.
2. Place the mount so both magnets make full contact with the surface.
3. Attach your Starlink Mini.
4. Confirm that the mount and device are fully secure before use.

Installing Optional Magnetic Base Plates

1. Thoroughly clean the flat mounting surface with alcohol.
2. If needed for improved adhesion, lightly scuff the surface. Note: scuffing may mark painted surfaces.
3. Apply adhesion promoter and allow it to become tacky for approximately five minutes.
4. Remove the backing from the 3M VHB adhesive and press each steel plate firmly into place.
5. Allow the adhesive to cure before placing the mount under full load.

At room temperature, 3M VHB adhesive reaches approximately 50% of its ultimate bond strength after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours, and 100% after 72 hours.

This mount is not intended for exterior vehicle use while the vehicle is moving. Always remove the Starlink Mini and mount before driving when installed on an exterior surface.

Before every use, inspect the magnets, mounting surface, hardware, and Starlink Mini. Remove the setup immediately if any component becomes loose or damaged.
